Helicopter Rule clarification - metal framing/struts

Postby paul nelson » Mon Feb 22, 2010 6:00 pm

Please clarify: 1) Can wire be used for landing struts, or any other frame or structural member?

2)If spools or pulleys are used, can they be made from commercial plywood parts?

3)Is bamboo considered to be wood?

4) If we are not using a kit, can commercial aircraft plywood be used?

For the helicopter, can the helicopter be launched at an angle rather than straight up?TimThompson

Our students have a question about what's considered a single rotor for the bonus.
More specifically, is there a limit to the number of blades a single rotor can have?

1) about helicopter: the rules state very clearly: “There is no maximum limit to the number of blades or their chord”.
2) about pre-official-flight testing: I’ll be at the shell at 7:00 and teams will be able to test as of then (both planes and helicopters).
