In the rules for Materials Science, the Event Parameters state that “Students must bring… a handheld calculator” (Section 2a.i). Is it correct, then, to assume that any type of calculator (including any kind of graphing calculator) will be permissible for students to use in the Materials Science event as long as it can be held in the hand?
